Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Cookie Bars

Butter-flavored shortening and two sugars create a tender chocolate chip cookie base for these bars. A smooth cream cheese filling is sandwiched between the bottom layer and crumbled dough topping, then baked until a toothpick comes clean. Cool completely before cutting.

  • ¾ c brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 2 ¼ c flour

  • 1 c sugar

Instructions

    Cream together shortening and sugars.

    Add eggs and vanilla, stir.

    Sift in flour, baking soda and salt and mix.

    Stir in chocolate chips.

    Spread half of the dough into a greased 9 x 13 pan.

    Whip the cream cheese until smooth.
