Instructions

  1. 1

Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chopped onions, stirring occasionally, until beginning to brown.

  2. 2

Stir in minced garlic and cook briefly. Add ground beef, breaking it into small chunks, and cook until no longer pink.

  3. 3

Reduce heat to medium. Stir in curry powder, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and pepper. Cook, stirring, until combined.

  4. 4

Whisk water and cornstarch until smooth. Stir into beef mixture and cook, stirring, until sauce thickens.

  5. 5

Transfer filling to a bowl. Cool for 10 minutes, then cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

  6. 6

Beat egg with water in a small bowl. Unroll thawed pastry sheets on a floured surface and gently roll out to make 11-inch squares.

  7. 7

Cut each square into nine smaller squares. Brush edges lightly with egg wash.

  8. 8

Divide beef filling onto the center of each pastry square. Fold diagonally in half and pinch edges together.

  9. 9

Press edges with fork tines to seal. Place on parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.

  10. 10

Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Refrigerate until ready to bake.

  11. 11

Bake one sheet at a time at 400°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
